General

  • I would like to have more information on your organization.

Mensa is an organization whose members are people that qualify in the top 2 percent of the population on IQ tests.  In other words, one person in 50 qualifies for Mensa. Mensa's primary goal is to offer members activities that allow them to meet other people with the same interests. In addition to being able to take part in Mensa activities, members receive the Mensa Canada magazine and their local chapter's newsletter. (Mensa Montréal, Mensa Québec or Mensa Montérégie).

Members of Mensa include people from all walks of life and professions.  Our orgnaization is apolitical.

  • I am a merchant and would like to advertise to members of Mensa.  How can I do this?

Please contact our This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for more details as to the advertising process and to obtain our rate card.

Testing and admission

  • I passed the test a few years ago.  At the time I didn't ask to become a member.  Today, I'm interested in doing so.  Do I have to pass the test again?

No. You need only contact Mensa Canada; the test results are retained, regardless of the year you passed the test. You need only pay the annual dues to become a member.

  • I would like to renew my lapsed membership card. What should I do?

All you need to do is send your annual dues to Mensa Canada to renew your membership.  The cost is $55 and cover the calendar year from January to December.  It makes more sense to renew your membership at the start of the year, but you can renew anytime. Now that you can renew without any fuss even if you haven't been a member for years.

You can fill out this form to renew your membership.

  • If a person fails the test, is it true that they can only retake it three years later?

Yes, for the Mensa test.  It is, however, possible to pass a test with a psychologist and to get this test validated by Mensa Canada (thus becoming a member more rapidly).  It is preferable to ask Mensa Canada ahead of time to find out which tests are admissible.

  • Where are Mensa-compatible tests offered in the Montreal area?

There are no accredited testers other than those of Mensa, but all psychologist-administered tests are valid. You can request information from the Order of Quebec psychologists to find a local psychologist who administers IQ tests.

  • Do candidates have to qualify in the top 2% of the population or top 2% of the test-takers?

In the top 2% of the population.

    Gifted Children

  • What services does Mensa offer for gifted children?

Given the limited number of volunteers, Mensa Canada does not offer a program or information on gifted children.  Several associations and sources of information dedicated to gifted children exist.  Here are two references:

    Association for Bright Children (ABC)
